Annual Mangrove Planting

Annual Mangrove Planting

Be a part of our Greening Communities initiative and plant mangrove saplings with us in Phang-nga Phuket!

In 2007, Banyan Tree launched Greening Communities as a challenge for properties to raise awareness for climate change by planting 2,000 trees per year. A total of 358,885 trees were planted group wide up until 2014. While trees absorb some atmospheric carbon, the main goal is engagement of communities, associates, and guests to share the causes of climate change and actions to reduce our collective footprint.

Coral Planting – Weekly

Coral Planting – Weekly

Every Monday & Friday

Join us to build marine habitats by planting coral with our Banyan Tree & Angsana Conservation Lab!

Banyan Tree & Angsana Bintan commits to conducting biweekly coral planting activities in the resort’s private bay to support marine biodiversity. Guests help plant coral into solid bases which are then placed in the water to extend coral colonies in the bay.

As safeguarding the environment is central to Banyan Tree’s goal of sharing the original beauty of any of our locations with our guests, we have implemented numerous site and region specific initiatives to support and instil environmental awareness among our associates, our guests, and the local communities supporting our resorts.

Help us minimise coral loss and the impact of crown of thorns starfish outbreaks through our weekly search and removal of snorkels!

Outbreaks of crown of thorns starfish, a coral predator, remain one of the major causes of coral loss throughout the Indo-Pacific. We have been committed in sustaining these outbreaks via population control since 2001 as part of our cleaning community initiatives. Through these efforts we have managed to help maintain healthy coral communities in our house reefs.
