Banyan Tree’s efforts to create sustainable development include supporting local business ventures and upgrading the skills of the local people.

For instance, at Banyan Tree Phuket, we work with local hawkers and traders who traditionally ply their trade on the beachfront to ensure proper hygiene standards and to limit pollution from refuse and waste food scraps by constructing a food center with proper facilities from which the hawkers can operate.

Wherever possible, we also buy from local suppliers for our resorts’ daily needs, as well as hire local staff to ensure the smooth running of resort operations.
