Handing Over Electric & Water Facilities to an Elementary School in Bintan

To end 2009 with a bang, on 23 December 2009, associates from Banyan Tree Bintan handed over electric and water facilities in a local elementary school. More than 150 people consisting of students, teachers, local government staff, Banyan Tree associates and guests were involved in this event.

The water and electricity project is funded jointly by the Banyan Tree Global Foundation and a generous donation of USD $3,000 by guests Mr and Mrs Crowley who stayed with Banyan Tree Bintan in August 2009. Mr. Zainal, the Headmaster of the school SDN 007 Simpang Lagoi, explained that the water would be crucial to sanitation, supplying water for toilets, showers, and drinking water for 292 students and 19 teachers.
