Gyalthang Dzong Hotel

Introduction
Opened in 2003, Gyalthang Dzong Hotel featuring 47 rooms and suites is tucked amidst soaring white-peaked mountains, poised statuesquely 3,300 metres above sea level in Gyalthang (renamed Shangri-La by China’s State Council in Yunnan) and set against the majestic contours of snow-capped Rotupo Mountain, the protector mountain of Gyalthang.

Gyalthang Dzong Hotel is a typical Tibetan building but with a unique architecture in 'Tibetan lamasery' style. A lamasery is a monastery for lamas - Buddhist monks who are spiritually qualified to lead people towards enlightenment.
